For the really crazy runners amongst, and yes there are a few, here is challenge put on by the folks running the Ontario Ultra Series.
The Ontario Ultra Series (O.U.S.) SLAM challenges seasoned ultra runners to complete four of the five longest races of the Series within the calendar year. Few are expected to rise to the challenge and even fewer are expected to realize the goal. By its very nature, the SLAM will push both physical and mental boundaries, recognizing and rewarding those that complete it.
Rules:
1 - You must declare your intent to participate in the O.U.S. SLAM before the start of the Niagara Ultra (Saturday June 23 2012)
2 - The form and a fee of $50 can be handed to the Race Director at either the Sulphur Springs or Niagara Ultra races or mailed/addressed to Dirty Runner, P.O. Box 23043, 125 Carlton St. St. Catharines, ON L2R 1R5.
3 - The fee is non-refundable
4 - Successful SLAMMERS will be recognized and rewarded at the annual O.U.S. banquet and on the website.
5 - You must complete, as per the rules of the respective races four of the following five races:
Sulphur Springs 100 miles
Niagara Ultra 100 km
dirty girls 24 hours (120 km) OR dirty girls 48 hours (100 miles)

Orillia Snowflake Series wrap up.
With the final race yesterday the 2011/12 Orillia Snowflake series comes to an end.
It was a good series put on by CANI Running, with nice weather and of course tough competition as always. A number of Barrie Road Runners participated in the series and some great results and lots of fun. Nancy Chong finished the series winning her age group, Chris Dixon and Shawn Patton also placed in thier respective age groups as well. Logan Duffy was 3rd in his age group for the youth series. Other BRR that ran the entire series were Wayne Hodge, Jim Duffy, Anne Marie Dixon, Lisa Thurlow, and myself. Lisa and I posted PB's for the final race which always makes a race that much better. Tracy MacLean and Keith Lascelles were out for some of the races as well. Keith won his age group in the 10k New Years Day Race. After each race Brewery Bay provided pizza and wings. There were also lots of draw prizes that included gift certificates for CANI Races, MEC Headbands, and a pair of Snowshoes.
Congratulations to all the runners who participated. Now its full on Marathon training time for the spring.
