Just had some clarification that although Rick missed the world record for amputee in a marathon he did break the world record for single Amputees.
April 20th -
Thank you to Scott Rigsby for correcting us on the fact that the Amputee World record was recently broken by Richard Whitehead of Nottingham, Uk on March 23rd in Rome. 2 hours and 57 minutes. Amazing.
Rick did break the old world record of 3 hours and 4 minutes and won a head to head race with Richard, winning by 1 minute.

Rick Ball of Orillia, who many of you know ran the Boston Marathon this morning and broke the world amputee Marathon record. Although he came short of his goal of going sub 3, an amazing effort.

Richard Whitehead still holds the record at 2 hours 57 minutes. However, Rick did beat Richard in a head to head in Boston by 1 minute.

You are correct about Richard Whitehead, however Rick now will hold the record for SINGLE amputee.

his second race just three weeks later was a training run which was done in a good time of
3 hours 2 mins!
This guy is a machine!!
Two marathons in 3 weeks in and around 3 hours!
Didnt realise he is a double above knee amputtee!!
That he is the first(only) leg amputtee to break 3 hours!!
Has a half marathon time of 1 hour 19 mins!!
