So when you travel to Disneyworld in Orlando Florida you get great or good weather right....wrong! The 2010 Disneyworld Marathon was the coldest ever, I dont even have to look that stat up. Many of us Barrie Roadrunners signed up for the Goofy challenge (which is a half marathon saturday and a full marathon sunday) the day it opened in 2009 thinking a great challenge and a great getaway. For those doing the Goofy, running the Half Marathon on Saturday was below freezing cold, wind chill, and rain part way through. We all did it with smiles, and in anticipation for the Marathon Sunday, we had to pick up a few more clothing items. Trust me when I say you could have gathered up all the discarded clothing from the Half and re-sold it Sunday to us Full runners! It was very exiting to think we all travelled to do this Goofy challenge, Joan Van Hilten, Shannon Lloyd, Tracy MacLean, Jim and Janet Duffy, James Rooney, Cindy Marcelli, and also Cindy Tuttle who was running her first Marathon with her coach Janet Ward. The medals are awesome and we earned them. Tracy had a tough time when she fell at mile 5, but thanks to Jim and Janet she finished anyway.
Congratulations to all who ran Disney. They really do it up right.
Whats the next step after the Goofy Challenge? Well, I would say a 50K-er or....50 miler!! It only takes one day instead of two!
