Niagara Ultra Marathon Half Marathon and 10K

A group of our runners attended this event on June 20/09 for what would not be your typical June weather. The rain did not stop us from completing the half, full, and one last minute decision to switch to the 50k. This event was a small venue and one of the best put together I have ever seen. Hooded Sweatshirts, medals, keychains, draw prizes, great after food, free beer, even a birthday card if your day was close to the race.Gorgeous out and back course starting at Niagara on the Lake Kinsmen Scout hall for 500m on grass, and then all along the Niagara river on paved park paths with it's share of elevation(Boston qualifier). All the way to the falls to turnaround for the 50k. The support from other runners and event team was outstanding and so motivational. We will be there with you next year Roger.

Slainte End of Summer 10k run

I know it's a little premature to be talking about the end of summer, as we are still waiting for summer to begin, but on August 29th there is a downhill 10k in Hamilton put on by the Slainte Irish Pub. The race starts at 6:30 pm and finishes at the pub. Food and drinks will be served and a U2 cover band will be on hand for the entertainment. Terry is trying to organize a bus for the trip down to Hamilton. If your interested sign is available at the Running Room web site or go to the race web site for links at http://www.roadrace.ca/race3.html.

Hamilton Marathon Nov 1st

Self acclaimed #1 qualifier for the Boston Marathon. Ladies & Gentlemen, this is a fast course. If you're looking to qualify for Boston or to do a PB, this is the course for you. Last years medals were quite extraordinary as well. Visit the website and check out the new "double challenge". Essentially a combo of running both the 5k & 10k races on the Saturday, apparently the two races are about 45 minutes apart, or,......run on of the races on Saturday and tackle the marathon on Sunday.

Toronto Women's Half

It was a great day for the first Toronto Womens Half Marathon where "Women (most definitely) set the pace" The out and back course provided ample opportunity to cheer on other Barrie runners and walkers as they passed you by. The biggest hit on the course was the water station manned by Toronto Firefighters kind enough to entertain the ladies as they passed through it 3 times during the run. And not to be outdone was the Cadbury chocolate station at 19k in case you needed a little refueling to get you across the line! Great event! Great Bling! Congrats to everyone who participated. And hats off the Hellaina for placing 21st overall! You looked awesome out there :)
