5Peaks Trail Series newsletter inviting all to check out the course for the next race...

Thought this was a pretty cool newsletter from David Grant, the new race director for this year's 5 Peaks series for Southern Ont. This series is getting more popular each year and many sign up for the entire series to avoid the inevitable sellout of each of the five events...

"Hi Trail Racers,
Our next race is coming up on August 7th. As far as park staff could tell me, this will be the first ever trail race at Terra Cotta Conservation Area. We've got a great route planned. It's a 5.8km loop... once for the Sport race, twice for the Enduro race. It skirts several ponds and we had to wait to see their summer water levels, so the maps are still pending, but the course is locked in now. It will be 4.8km of very fast, wide, scenic trails and 1km of extremely rooty singletrack that will push you into a locker and take your lunch money.
So let's check it out with a couple of preview runs on Saturday, July 24th and Saturday, July 31st - both at 9am. Meet at the main wooden pavilion east of the main washroom building. You can't miss it.
If you're training for a fall marathon and need to log a longer training run, why not run a couple laps of the trail and then head out to add distance along the quiet country roads surrounding the conservation area?

These will be purely informal, non-competitive group runs to meet and hang out with likeminded trail enthusiasts. So there are two catches:
1. You're responsible for your own park entry fee ($4.75). On raceday you don't pay this, but on any other day you do, and these will be any other days.
2. There are flush toilets onsite and I'm going to bring my portable BBQ and some hot dogs and veggie dogs, but otherwise this is BYO everything. That includes your own liability. You're solely responsible for your own safety, including but not limited to: bumps, bruises, sprains, dehydration, alien abduction, Beatlemania, The Noid, whatever.
Since this is just an informal run among friends, please invite anyone you want. They don't have to be registered for the race. They just have to have fun in the outdoors!
See you there.
David Grant
5 Peaks Race Director"
